Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

equality diversity inclusion policy

Equality diversity inclusion policy At Chasewell Therapy, I am committed to providing a counselling space where every person is treated with dignity, respect, compassion and acceptance. As a person-centred counsellor, I recognise that every individual is unique and that each person’s experiences, identity, values, beliefs and circumstances shape who they are. I aim to offer a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

Respecting difference and diversity

equality diversity inclusion policy I welcome clients from all backgrounds and value the diversity of human experience. I respect differences including, but not limited to:

  • Age
  • Disability and health conditions
  • Neurodivergence
  • Gender identity and expression
  • Sexual orientation
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Culture and heritage
  • Religion and belief
  • Socioeconomic background
  • Family structure
  • Personal history and life experiences

I recognise that people may experience barriers, discrimination or disadvantage because of aspects of their identity or circumstances, and I aim to work with awareness, openness and sensitivity.

My approach

I believe the therapeutic relationship is built on empathy, honesty, respect and acceptance. I will strive to meet each client as an individual and remain aware that my own experiences, assumptions and perspectives may influence my understanding. I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development, including reflecting on difference, diversity, inclusion and areas where I can continue to learn.

Creating an inclusive space

I aim to make counselling accessible and welcoming. If there are any adjustments or specific needs that would help you feel more comfortable accessing therapy, I encourage you to discuss these with me so that we can explore what support may be appropriate.

Discrimination and respect

Discrimination, prejudice, harassment or oppressive behaviour has no place within the counselling relationship. I will work to maintain a respectful and safe environment for all clients. Where appropriate, I will explore experiences of discrimination, inequality or exclusion as part of the therapeutic process, recognising the impact these experiences can have on wellbeing.

Commitment to ethical practice

My practice is guided by the ethical principles of the counselling profession, including respect for client autonomy, dignity, confidentiality and the importance of working in the best interests of clients. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with their ethical framework. BACP Membership Number: 01027517

I welcome feedback about my practice and will reflect on any concerns raised to support continuous improvement.
