Therapist confidentiality policy and professional practice

Chasewell Therapy
Effective date: September 2026

At Chasewell Therapy, I believe that feeling safe, respected and heard is central to the counselling relationship. I provide person-centred counselling, offering a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.

About my practice

Chasewell Therapy is operated by Danielle Laycock, an independent counsellor trading as Chasewell Therapy. My therapist confidentiality policy is guided by my training as a qualified Level 4 Counsellor and Psychotherapist and by my membership of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). BACP Membership Number: 01027517. I work in accordance with the ethical principles and professional standards of the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Confidentiality and therapist confidentiality policy

Confidentiality is an essential part of counselling. Information shared during counselling sessions is treated with respect and kept private. I will not share information about your counselling with others without your consent, except in circumstances where there is a professional, ethical or legal requirement to do so.

  • Where there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of another person
  • Where safeguarding concerns arise
  • Where I am required to provide information by law
  • Where disclosure is necessary to meet professional responsibilities
  • Where possible and appropriate, I will discuss any concerns with you before sharing information.

Professional supervision

As part of maintaining safe and ethical practice, I attend regular professional supervision with an appropriately qualified supervisor. Supervision allows me to reflect on my work, maintain professional standards and ensure clients receive the best possible support. Client information discussed in supervision is anonymised wherever possible and confidentiality is maintained.

Counselling sessions

  • 50 minutes in length
  • Available by appointment only
  • Charged at £55 per session
  • Payment is required by bank transfer at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment in order to secure the session.
  • A session may need to be released if payment has not been received.

Initial consultation

I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation. This provides an opportunity for you to ask questions, find out more about how I work and consider whether counselling with Chasewell Therapy feels like the right fit for you. The initial consultation is not a counselling session and there is no obligation to continue.

Contact boundaries

Email and telephone contact are available for appointment arrangements, practical questions and communication relating to counselling. Counselling support is provided during scheduled sessions rather than through messages or telephone contact outside appointments.

Areas of support

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Life changes and transitions
  • Neurodivergence
  • Addiction and recovery-related experiences
  • LGBTQ+ related experiences and challenges
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Personal growth and self-exploration
  • This list is not exhaustive, and I encourage you to contact me to discuss whether counselling may be suitable for your individual circumstances.

Professional boundaries

A professional therapeutic relationship is built on trust, respect and clear boundaries. I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries that protect both client and counsellor.

Emergency support

Chasewell Therapy is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing an immediate crisis or believe there is a risk of serious harm, please contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis support service.
