Meet Your Therapist
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and I believe the relationship you build with your therapist is one of the most important parts of the counselling process. My aim is to offer a space where you can be yourself without fear of judgement, pressure or expectations. You don't need to have the right words or have everything figured out before you arrive. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have completed Levels 2, 3 and 4 qualifications in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My practice is grounded in the person-centred approach, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. Rather than telling you what to do or offering quick fixes, I work alongside you with empathy, honesty and genuine curiosity, helping you explore your experiences at your own pace. I have a particular interest in working with people affected by addiction and recovery, neurodivergence, and the LGBTQ+ community. I also recognise that experiences such as grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, anxiety, depression and major life changes can affect every part of our lives.
Whatever brings you to counselling, you will be met with warmth, respect and compassion. My journey to becoming a counsellor has given me a deep appreciation of the many challenges people face throughout life. Like many of us, I know that life rarely follows a straight path, and I understand how difficult it can be to carry struggles that aren't always visible to others. These experiences have shaped my empathy and strengthened my belief that everyone deserves to be heard, accepted and valued without judgement. I believe counselling should feel human.
You won't find perfection here, and I don't expect it from my clients either. I value authenticity, honesty and building a relationship where you can feel comfortable enough to explore whatever is on your mind. Whether you arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain or simply wanting to understand yourself better, we will work together in a way that feels right for you. Seeking support takes courage, and I never take for granted the trust my clients place in me.
My commitment is to provide a safe, confidential and accepting space where you can feel heard, understood and empowered to move towards the life you want to live. If you're looking for a therapist york who is approachable, genuine and committed to walking alongside you rather than leading from in front, I would be honoured to support you on your journey.
